Kenzo is best known eponymous label and French luxury house founded in 1970 by Japanese fashion designer Kenzo Takada. Kenzo was born in Himeji Japan in 1940; he was interested in fashion designing at the early age.

In 1964 he moved to Paris to start his fashion career; he opened his first boutique in 1970 named ‘Jungle Jap’ in Paris with handmade women’s clothing. He became famous for using Asian and Japanese influenced style with the expert construction of European high fashion.

Then he started to design men’s collection, kids’ collection and home collection also and now it has become an international luxury goods brand.

With its abundant prints, vibrant color combinations and cultural influences from all over the world, Kenzo offers a versatile and luxuriant world where spontaneity talks control. In 1999, Kenzo announced his retirement leaving his assistants in charge of his fashion house and

these days the founders of opening ceremony Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are working as head designers of the brand. Like the founder of the brand Kenzo Takada, both of them decided to go up against the standard expectations of the seasonal trends.

They are said to be highly influenced by the environment of the 21st century and their aim is to shake up the ‘jungle’ world of fashion. The designers have injected the brand with youthful spirit and sense of fun and cheekiness.

In this post we are interested to share with you the brand’s latest spring 2018 Ready-to-Wear Collection showcased at Paris Fashion Week. An Asian inflected portrait merging past with present motivated the designers and Leon explained,” we have gone political, we have addressed climate

, we have gone on very tropical things and we wanted to almost step back and really have fun with this collection, I think we use our platform so instinctively for different reasons and we just wanted to use it for joy”.

Te brand is renowned for its high-profile shows and for this latest spring ready to wear show the brand overcame everyone’s expectations. In the fashion show there were aerial dancers that rappelled down the wall, performing acts in the honor of Kenzo’s muses Sayoko Yamaguchi and Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Yamaguchi was a world-famous model who was very close to the designer and she passed away in 2007. Sakamoto is a musician who composes sensual and synthetic music. These two personalities were spotlight in the show thanks to their major influence in the Asian culture.
